UVC (UVGI) disinfection for clean rooms and manufacturing

Chemical-free disinfection: simple, effective, reliable

Healthy employees: inside and continuing manufacturing production - these are two important requirement for manufacturing, especially in times of the corona pandemic. Keeping the air clean is one of the top requirements for maintaining a hygienic environment,

  • when it comes to cleanrooms and
  • if circulating cooled or heated air.

Existing HEPA filters are only part of the solution. After only a short period of use, the filters become heavily loaded with active pathogens. With every maintenance and filter change, germs can escape and spread during operation. It is also possible that a defect causes a leak. Human and technical error can have considerable consequences - up to and including company closure.

UVC disinfection in clean rooms and the manufacturing industry

For disinfecting the air in clean rooms and rooms with low temperatures, we offer you a proven, chemical-free solution: UVC disinfection. Retrofitting with our Soluva? Air D UVC disinfection modules is simple, as no major changes need to be made to the existing system.

On the other hand, when retrofitting a ventilation system that has HEPA filters, the ventilation system must be expanded to maintain the existing capacity. Otherwise, there will be a decrease in overall ventilation capacity.

The Soluva? Air D disinfection modules fit into any air conditioning or ventilation system and disinfect up to 25,000 cubic meters of air per hour. The UVC emitters from Heraeus Noblelight are particularly powerful, low maintenance and durable.

Our disinfection products are proven for many years in:

  • the food and packaging industry
  • clean rooms in the pharmaceutical industry and microchip production
  • health clinics and medical practices
  • airports, hotels, theaters and office buildings

We would be pleased to advise you on the optimal product solution, create an individual design and submit a complimentary estimate.

Heraeus Noblelight: Expertise in UVC (UVGI) disinfection

With over 100 years of experience in UVC (UVGI) light disinfection, Heraeus Noblelight is a pioneer and market leader in UVC disinfection of air, surfaces and objects. At the beginning of the 20th century we developed the first UVC emitter. Since then we have continued to improve our products and adapt them to the requirements of a wide range of industries.

We offer particularly high-performance UVC lamps with a large scattering angle. This means that the UVC light is fast acting and also shines into corners and angles. A specialty coated on the inside of our lamps makes them particularly low-maintenance and reliable. Like all our products, the Soluva? product range is made of high-quality materials and therefore exceptionally durable.

University study proves effectiveness against SARS-CoV-2 virus

Several studies already proved that high-energy UVC radiation inactivates bacteria, fungi, mites and viruses. However, we wanted to know whether UVC light could also render harmless the novel corona virus. So we planned a scientific study in cooperation with the University of Tübingen. This study finally determined that UVC irradiance inactivates 99.99% of the SARS-CoV-2 virus on surfaces. This happens within a few tenths of a second.

UVC disinfection for improved worker safety

Does your work require clean room conditions and employ highly qualified personnel? Then an interruption due to an infectious disease can ultimately paralyze entire departments. Or are you currently looking for new employees? A safe working environment is an important argument when recruiting qualified staff and retaining existing specialists in your company. Disinfecting the air contributes significantly to infection prevention and employee wellbeing.

If you work with fresh products or in other sensitive areas, then production is also at risk due to possible damage to products. Protect your staff, your capital and your company image by disinfecting the air with UVC light.

Additional products for UVC disinfection

Soluva? Air M for air disinfection with UV light

Soluva? Air M
Soluva® Air M: Product in development

For reception areas, lobbies, offices, breakrooms, locker rooms and other areas where there is no ventilation system, we recommend our Soluva? Air M ceiling unit. The capacity of this unit is 1,000 cubic meters of air per hour.

Soluva? Air W / Air S for air disinfection with UV light

Soluva? Air S
Soluva® Air S: Product in development

For smaller rooms, either the floor-mounted Soluva? Air S or the wall-mounted Soluva? Air W is sufficient. Both have a capacity of 100 cubic meters of air per hour. The units are robust, low-maintenance and durable. To avoid any danger to people in the room, the units shield occupants from the UVC emitters. Maintenance and replacement are easy.

Mobile disinfection of surfaces with Soluva? Zone H

For surface disinfection we offer the battery-operated mobile device Soluva? Zone H. Using the device is extremely easy and quick to learn. The user simply passes the device over surfaces and objects to disinfect them, similar to using a hair dryer. Test strips, which are only used for the first few attempts, indicate the correct distance and speed. The device’s high power, large scattering angle, and ergonomic design make it especially easy to use, even on hard to reach surfaces. You can easily integrate the Soluva? Zone H into your existing cleaning procedures. Protective gloves are included with each unit.

Five Soluva? solutions for disinfection with UV light

How does UV disinfection of air, surfaces and objects work?

Ultraviolet light is an electromagnetic radiation in the range of optical frequencies. The wavelengths are so short that the ultraviolet radiation is invisible to the human eye. The wavelengths are divided into UV-A, UV-B and UV-C. We use UV-C light with a frequency range between 280 and 100 nanometers for disinfection.

UV-C light is very short-wave and very energy-rich. UV-C light inactivates bacteria, viruses and fungi. Air, surfaces and objects can be sterilized by irradiating them with UV-C light. UV light is therefore a chemical-free, environmentally friendly and efficient alternative to liquid disinfectants.

The same applies to Soluva? Zone H for UV disinfection: Protect your skin and eyes from ultraviolet radiation. That's why the Soluva? Zone H comes with gloves and a face visor. In addition, please wear long sleeves and a cap to protect your scalp.

All other UV disinfection systems such as floor standing units, wall mounted units or tabletop units shield occupants from the UV rays.
